Welcome!

By: Soumya Ramireddy

Hello, fellow Monte Vista speech and debaters!

Now that a Congress, debate, and events tournament have passed, I feel as though it is only fitting to finally welcome you all to the 2013-2014 competitive season! As team president this year, I am so thrilled to see what all of you will surely accomplish, and I’m already proud of how well so many of you have been representing Monte Vista at the few tournaments we’ve had.

That being said, I’ve taken it upon myself to help as many of you as possible in achieving your speech and debate goals for the season. Your captains are undeniably amazing resources, and I’m so thankful that I get to work with them in running this team. However, I would love the opportunity to throw my own hat in the ring and open myself up to any questions or concerns of yours that I can address. I’ve been competing for my entire high school career, so I’ve amassed quite a bit of experience in fields like oratory, expository, Congress, Public Forum debate, and even a little bit of advocacy. But, even if you don’t compete in any of those events, I’ve learned enough from my many teammates over the years to offer you some interesting tidbits on how to improve your performance in speech and debate in general.

So, please feel free to contact me at my email address that’s listed on this website or talk to me during fourth period as that’s when I TA for Mr. Matley. Here’s to another great season, Mustangs! 🙂
